Game Mechanics and Plot
Uses majority of topics covered in AP CS A
Players are a student making choices to further their CS AP A journey.
Goal is to accrue as much knowledge in five categories, the four categories from the AP exam and lab work
Choices include class (+random topic), study (+chosen topic), practice (answer question for big +all), lab work (+lab and small +all), and resting.
Game ends when energy goes to 0 from a lack of rest or time runs out.
Game Features
Usage of randomness ensures each play is unpredictable
FileIO is used to store top 5 high scores and read a txt file with questions for the practice action
Players resting during their birthday month get a full energy refill
Students of CS AP A should be able to produce something better than by end of year
Intentional Missing Functionality
Examples include input validation and exception catching
Readers of the code are provided with comments asking and pointing out some areas for improvement
Reader is invited to consider how they would add a chance of a random event each turn, like a fire drill, field trip, or guest speaker
Commenting Throughout
Comments placed to help reader understand code
Maximized usage of OOP principles in class design
